The municipal executive, comprised of the mayor and the aldermen (B&W), forms the day-to-day executive committee of the municipality. The task of the committee is to prepare and implement decisions made by the council. The committee also has its own authority to make decisions. These decisions generally lie within the executory field. For example, the municipal executive issues municipal permits/licences and grants (such as planning permission, licences under the Nuisance Act, market stall licences and collection licences).
